With the restoration of power, Robotics will be back in business on Tuesday afternoon and every school day thereafter (the Good Lord willin' and the crick don't rise!).
The team has completed construction of all the challenge elements, including a VERY complicated house which rises up on "pilings." Rereading the instructions, rules, and Questions/Answers (which become rules), it appears our problems are somewhat less complicated than originally anticipated. Still, we have some very complex strategy to work out. There are so many "missions" to do, I doubt anyone will be able to complete them all (as many did in the 2008 Challenge). Your children will be called upon to read rules critically and to think about complex real world problems. It should be a fine experience for them. Ask them about it, and if you can get in some afternoon, stop by and have a look for yourself.
Out of the blue, we have a volunteer assistant coach - Angelic Covarrubia Orzak. Angelic is an engineer working for United Space Alliance on the shuttle robotic arm (and the wife of our Youth Minister - Josh Orzak). She is a great example to our team of "Gracious Professionalism" and an inspiration to the girls, as well.
