Mrs. Gibbs earned her undergraduate teaching degree at Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her Master's Degree at SUNY Cortland. She grew up in Guyana and England, and has lived in the United States for more than three decades. Mrs. Gibbs is a member and volunteer at Armand Bayou Nature Center, where she also taught in the CCISD gifted program for five years before coming to St. Thomas School in 1997. She enjoys traveling, birding, and playing in her garden. Mrs. Gibbs' elder son graduated from UH-CL in 2006 and was married in May 2007. He and his wife moved to Baltimore in 2009. Her younger son lives in Tennessee.

Mrs. Gibbs' husband introduced her to guinea pigs in 1999, and her classroom at St.Thomas has not been without one since! Our current piggy, Candy, came to us from a family at St. Thomas.
