Hi,
My name is Meg Matheny, and it is my great privilege to serve as Chaplain and Director of Religious Education at St.Thomas school.
I currently teach religion to grades pre-k through second, and lead the school chapel services on Thursday mornings.
I am so blessed to have the opportunity to teach the children about a living God who desires to have a personal relationship with them. I use scripture, Bible stories, artwork and many other inter-active activities to help the children grow in this relationship. I believe that all children are spiritually "connected", and have as much to teach me as I have to teach them. We walk together on this journey, and help each other to know Christ more deeply.
In Pre-K and Kinder, we focus on many of the basic (and also some of the lesser known)stories from the Bible.
In first grade, the children explore their own intepretations while creating and illustrating their own Bibles.
Second grade uses play-acting, class discussions and lots of hands on activities to learn about The Lord's Pryaer, The Ten Commandments, The Armor of God and the Fruit of the Spirit, and how they are relevant to our lives today.
During chapel, we follow the seasonal calander of the Episcopal church while we also explore what God's word has to say to each one of us. Children are given lots of opportunities to participate. They lead us in hymns, read scripture, serve as acolytes and crucifers, as well as present dramatic interpretions of various scriptures. All are welcome at chapel, so please feel free to join us on Thursday mornings.

May God's Peace Bless you.
